Thailand and Equatorial Guinea formalize their diplomatic relations

During the official visit that the President of Equatorial Guinea is carrying out in the Asian country, the Governments of the two countries have signed the document which opens a new period of formal diplomatic relations.
The President of Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and the Prime Minister of Thailand, Yingluck Shinawatra, have signed today in Bangkok the establishment of new diplomatic relations between the two countries. The signing took place over the course of the visit that the President of Equatorial Guinea is carrying out in the Southeast Asian country.

The President proposes the expansion of the ASA group

In his speech during the opening ceremony of the Third Summit of ASA, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo reaffirmed his support, and that of his Government to all proposals raised during the summit to strengthen mechanisms for South-South development. He also suggested extending the ASA group to the countries of Central America and the Caribbean.
After welcoming and thanking all the Heads of State and Government for attending this summit, the President of Equatorial Guinea said his hope is that the meeting "is relevant in the realization of our wills to bring about true South-South cooperation that meets the needs of our people." The President also remembered the President Hugo Chavez.

Opening ceremony of the Third Summit of Heads of State and Government of the ASA

Yesterday, Friday morning, the inauguration of the Third Summit of Heads of State and Government of Africa and South America (ASA) was held. The joint effort to exploit the natural resources in both regions, and the development of South-South cooperation were featured in the speeches spoken at the ceremony.

Independence Day of the Republic of The Gambia

On Monday, February 18, the 48th anniversary of the Independence Day took place, an event that was attended H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo as guest of honor.
The commemoration of the forty-eighth anniversary of the accession of the Republic of The Gambia to national sovereignty was attended by two Heads of State. First, the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, as guest of honor, who arrived in the country on Saturday and was received by his counterpart, H.E. Sheik Alagi Yahya Jammeh with military honors.

Meetings of the Head of State in Ethiopia

As part of the Twentieth Ordinary Summit of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, H.E. President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has met with his counterparts from friendly countries.
The Equatorial Guinean Head of State exchanged views on bilateral issues with the new President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, elected on July 9, 2011. Then, he received the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamed, who took office in September 2012. Sheikh Mohammed went to the office set up for the Republic of Equatorial Guinea at the new headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), where he thanked his counterpart Obiang Nguema Mbasogo for the support that he gave to overcome the famine his country suffered. He also requested assistance to resolve their current situation.
