Paul Kagame receives Obiang Nguema Mbasogo


The Equatorial Guinean President arrived in Kigali, capital of Rwanda, on official State business, responding to the invitation by his counterpart, Paul Kagame.

At approximately 13:00 h. on Monday, July 14, the Head of State of Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, arrived for the first time at the International Airport in Kigali, and was received by the President of Rwanda, H.E. Paul Kagame, who had extended a formal invitation to make an official visit and establish a better basis for their bilateral cooperation.

Having received military honors at the airport facilities, where folk performances of welcome also took place, the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea exchanged some first impressions with his counterpart. Both talked about the friendly and cooperation relations between the African countries. It is expected that this official trip will culminate with the signing of a joint statement, which could hold the priority issues of this cooperation.

H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo also expressed his condolences to the people and Government of Rwanda for those killed in the genocide in the country in 1994. These condolences were expressed during reconnaissance visits made ​​to the Memorial Center of the Genocide.

Another of the places of interest visited on Monday was the Special Economic Zone of Kigali, created by the Rwandan Executive in 2006 to boost the economy, with the investment of national business companies and neighboring countries, as well as other economic operators from Europe and Asia.

It is expected that the President of the Republic of Rwanda will offer a dinner to the official delegation of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, on the evening of July 14.
